Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) Overview
Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) is one of the nation’s fastest-growing professions. The US Department of Labor estimates that the demand for OTAs will increase by 36% by 2032, much faster than the average for all occupations. The nationwide median pay is $62,830 per year. OTAs work in a variety of locations, primarily in outpatient clinics, hospitals, schools, home health, and nursing care facilities. Interested applicants need to be admitted to 99¸£ÀûÊÓÆµ, attend student orientation, submit documentation, and meet with an advisor in order to be considered for admittance into the OTA program. In addition, all states require licensure in order to practice; however, state licenses are usually based on the results of the NBCOT Certification Examination. Note that a felony conviction may affect a graduate’s ability to sit for the NBCOT certification examination or attain state licensure.
